On the road again in spring (at the end of March) heading towards Macon (bike lane in very good shape). I followed the Saone until Lyon. Maybe better sticking to the left side of the river at the end of the day (when its getting dark). (its more quiet and hopefully noone bothers You if You set up a tent). If You are at the beginning of the day, I would recommend staying at the right side of the Saone river (more traffic, you can get quicker).
