.... the first kilometers I have to follow the railway line. I will have to go towards the Rhine. On the other end there is Ulm and the Danube, that means the Black Sea.
A day in summer and more than 30 degrees. I have to stop at the first place offering me something to drink.
The church is also nicknamed the most beautiful chappel in the world. I made a second stop taking another beer..
This is a little street for the farmers and their vehicles. Do not expect much traffic .
Gettin thru some villages. At the end of the village you will always find a bike lane.
I am leaving Biberach and enter in the district of Sigmaringen (That means I am still in the reach of the Danube).
In many villages You can find a fountain and the water quality is - in general - quite fine.
Entering in Switzerland. The customs officer don t care about me.
Having lunch in Germany. I went down to the river (which belongs to Switzerland).
The Rheintalradweg (bike lane following the Rhine)is at the right side of the river (which belongs often to Germany). Recommended to stay on this side . But I was curious, in Schaffhausen I wanted to see the Rhine falls (no possible to access with a bicycle). That s why I went to the other side .
At the suisse side of the river there were not the bike lanes I expected.
Like the previous days very hot. Just a fountain there for watering the gardens all around. I lay inside and took a bath.
With the bicycle along the left side of the river. No traffic. Trail for wandering. But not possible to move at high speed.
From time to time, i see someone hiking.
The river is now very large and I breath the air with its special taste of the wood and its plants.
Bridge across the Rhine. I left Switzerland. It is recommended driving at the German side of the river. Bike lane is much better there (told me so by a German worker living in Switzerland).
Unfortunately, could not find a single restaurant in Switzerland. Allmost all were closed. The restaurant at this particular bridge did have its holiday. The following kilometers were tough. The road went several kilometers uphill.
Bike lane near Lauffenburg. The Rheintalradweg did finish a few kilomers before Rheinau. Almost everythere close to the river and nearly flat.
Many people are walking or goin by bike along the Rhine. I remember a camping site near Lienheim. Water is clean and You can go swimming in the river.
No way to move fast. The bike lane goes through the city center.
Country road in Alsace. The bicycle lane to Mulhausen is rather flat. If you go South probably good idea heading towards Blotzheim and then thru little villages until You reach the Rhin Rhone bike lane.
You can leave Your bicycle at the station, it will cost You around 15 Euros / month.
